Union Township Justice Court

Items in the Court Docket are compiled from public records contained in the Union Township Justice Court and the Sixth Judicial District Court. The Humboldt Sun reports all felony hearings, misdemeanor convictions and dismissals for which the court releases information. When requested by the individual, the Sun will post the person’s mug shot with their court disposition.

July 1

On June 10, 2021 Jose Luis Rodriguez made his first court appearance on a misdemeanor charge possession of drug paraphernalia. On June 15, the defendant entered a plea of not guilty. On June 15, the court made an order for own recognizance release with conditions. On June 17, a motion to withdraw was filed by the public defender. On June 18, the court appointed the alternate public defender as counsel. On July 1, a hearing was held and the defendant entered a no contest plea. The parties jointly recommended 90 days in the Humboldt County Detention Center with 80 days suspended on the condition the defendant have no like violations of the law. The court ruled as follows: find $155.00 + $95 AA for a total of $250. Rodriguez is to make monthly payments of $50 with the first payment due on August 1, 2021. 90 days in the Humboldt County Detention Center with 80 days suspended for 1 year on the condition the defendant have no like violations of the law. The defendant was also given credit for 6 days time served. The defendant is to serve the remaining 4 days within the next 30 days. 



July 9

On July 8 Richard Carl Wolters made his first court appearance on misdemeanor charges operating a vehicle with expired or invalid registration/plates. On July 9 the defendant was present via Zoom in the custody of Humboldt County Detention Center for the sentencing hearing. Wolters entered a guilty plea. The court accepted his plea and ruled as follows: credit time served 2 days. 



July 13

Douglas D. Lott was charged with misdemeanor theft. On April 6 a summons and court order for book and release without bail was filed. On April 12 the summons was served. On July 13 a hearing was held. The defendant was present representing himself. The DA Marck Shockley made a motion to dismiss the case. The court granted the DAs motion and the case was dismissed in open court.
