Union Township Justice Court
June 24
On June 6, 2021 Carmen Theresa L. Uribe Ramirez-Garcia made her first court appearance for felony charges possession of stolen motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and receiving, possessing or withholding stolen property. On June 8, a criminal complaint filed. On June 10, a court order was given to reduce the defendant’s bail from $20,000 to $5,000. On June 24, the DA Kevin Pasquale filed an amended criminal complaint to reflect NRS 454.351 drugs not to be introduced into interstate commerce. The court accepted the plea in absentia of no contest. The defendant was sentenced to 90 days in the Humboldt County Detention Center with credit for 19 days time served.
July 6
Blake Watterlyn was charged with misdemeanor assault. On December 2, 2020 the attorney notice of appearance filed request for discovery filed and a pre-trial was set for February 2, 2021 at 1:15 PM. Throughout the months of February and June, the parties agreed off the record to reset the case a total of four times. On July 6, 2021 the hearing was held. The defendant was not present but the attorney, Jeff Miller, was present on Watterlyn’s behalf. The DA made a motion to dismiss the case with no objection from the defense. The court granted the DA’s motion.
July 1
On June 10, 2021 Jose Luis Rodriguez made his first court appearance for felony charge possession of a controlled substance. On June 15, the court gave an order for own recognizance release with conditions. On June 17 a motion to withdraw this order was filed by the public defender. On June 18, the court appointed the alternate public defender as counsel. On July 1, a hearing was held. Pursuant to the terms of the plea agreement the DA made a motion to dismiss the case. The court granted the DA’s motion and the case was dismissed in open court.
On June 15, 2021 Jose Luis Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor operating unregistered vehicle. On July 1, a hearing was held. At this hearing, the defendant entered a guilty plea. The court accepted Rodriguez’s plea and ruled as follows: fine $100+$95 AA for a total of $195. The court also rule this case would be rolled up with his other cases.
On June 10, 2021 Jose Luis Rodriguez made his first court appearance on a misdemeanor charge possession of drug paraphernalia. On June 15, 2021 the defendant entered a plea of not guilty. On June 15, 2021 the court made an order for own recognizance release with conditions. On June 17, 2021 a motion to withdraw was filed by the public defender. On June 18, 2021 the court appointed the alternate public defender as counsel. On July 1, 2021 a hearing was held and the defendant entered a no contest plea. The parties jointly recommended 90 days in the Humboldt County Detention Center with 80 days suspended on the condition the defendant have no like violations of the law. The court ruled as follows: find $155.00 + $95 AA for a total of $250. Rodriguez is to make monthly payments of $50 with the first payment due on August 1, 2021. 90 days in the Humboldt County Detention Center with 80 days suspended for 1 year on the condition the defendant have no like violations of the law. The defendant was also given credit for 6 days time served. The defendant is to serve the remaining 4 days within the next 30 days.
