Virginia Wells
(Gena, 81)
It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the death of my wonderful mother Virginia Wells (Gena, age 81). She struggled with dementia and diabetes and passed on July 7th, 2021, in Reno Nevada.
Per her wishes her ashes will be spread in the mountains on a warm summer day.
Gena was born on Nov 3, 1939 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was very close to her 2 sisters, Donna and Georgia Longacre. They could be seen putzing around town together on most weekends.
Gena was known for babysitting and took wonderful care of many families in Battle Mountain for over 30 years.
She loved children and they adored her kind ways. She also loved to garden, crochet and travel with her family.
She loved spoiling her grandkids and searching for seashells on the beach.
I have many memories of her laughter and antics including mud and water fights and joking around with the family. She was an amazing cook and most the recipes were her own and were from scratch.
Gena is survived by her sisters Donna Lou Longacre and Georgia Carol Longacre, brother, Gary Leon Longacre, daughter Deborah Jo Florence, son-in-law, Kim Larry Florence and her 3 adored grandchildren Taylor Jo, Shawn Ryan, and Dylan Jay Florence.
Gena was married to Norman Dean Wells for 55 Years until he passed on April 3, 2007. She was a kind, loving person and will be greatly missed.
