A routine traffic stop by a Humboldt County Deputy lead to the seizure of an array of drugs on Wednesday Jan. 13, 2021.
During the traffic stop the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Detection Dog, Ghost, was deployed and one pill of Fentanyl was located and seized.
A 19 year old passenger, Jared Hickman from Winnemucca, was arrested for possession of controlled substance.
The Trident Narcotics Task Force was advised of the arrest and seizure of the Fentanyl and obtained a search warrant to Hickman’s residence. During the search of Hickman’s residence, more controlled substances were located. Located was Alprazolam, Cocaine, Fentanyl, LSD, Psilocybin Mushrooms, Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Molly/Ecstasy, Methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Fentanyl is a Schedule II narcotic used as an analgesic and anesthetic. It is the most potent opioid available for use in medical treatment - 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and 30 to 50 times more potent than heroin. Fentanyl is potentially lethal, even at very low levels. Ingestion of small doses as small as 0.25 mg can be fatal. Its euphoric effects are indistinguishable from morphine or heroin.
Humboldt County Sheriff Mike Allen stated “this was an excellent partnership between the Sheriff’s Office and the Trident Task Force which resulted in the significant seizure of controlled substances”.
The Trident Narcotics Task Force is comprised of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, The Nevada Division of Investigations, Winnemucca Police Department, Pershing County Sheriff’s Office, Lovelock Police Department and the Lander County Sheriff’s Office.
