Obituary: Raul Lara Sr.

Raul Lara Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on February 10, 2021 at the age of 69. 

He was born on June 21,1951 in Trojes Michoacan to Manuel Lara and Maria Garcia.

Raul married the love of his life, Soledad Castro on March 3, 1973. The two shared 2 children, Raul Jr., and Adriana Lara. 

In 1979, he came to the United States from Mexico to better his life for himself and his family. His family came to the United States in 1980. 

In 1980, he started working at Giordano Ranch where he spent over 20 years working. He worked for Crawford Cattle for 10 years until his retirement. 

He liked occasionally fishing, singing, and dancing. He enjoyed being with friends, family, and relaxing watching his favorite movies. 

We will always remember and will miss his jokes and stories that he would always tell. He had a great sense of humor and work ethic. 

We all wish we had more time with him. He was always very kind and treated people with great respect. He touched many people’s lives, and we are all better for knowing him and having him in our lives. 

Raul Lara Sr is survived by his wife of 47 years, Soledad Lara. His children, Raul Lara Jr (Rachel Lara) and Adriana Lara (Ruben Solorio). 

Grandchildren; Darae Browner, Shailey Lara Peaslee (Matt Peaslee), Chasey Bradshaw, Braidyn Anderson, Nakiya Lara, Brylie Lara and Mauricio Lara. Great-Grandchildren; Hayvnn Browner, Sarran Smith, and Kaden Peaslee. Brothers; Manuel Lara, Alejandro Lara, Rosalio Lara, Jesus Lara, Daniel Lara, Salvador Lara, and Armando Lara. Sister; Rufina Mendez, Irma Lara

He also leaves behind several family members including numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Lara, and Maria Garcia. Brother, Jose Lara, and sister Graciela Castellanos. 

Services for Raul Lara Sr. were held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Saturday, February 20, 2021. Rosary at 10:30 am. Mass at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at the Winnemucca Cemetery.
