Jackie worked as a bookkeeper at City Transfer and Richfield Bulk Plant and later went to work for the government on the Selective Service board for over 25 years until her retirement in 1975.
At only 4 foot 8 inches, Jackie joked about her reputation of being the “most feared woman in Winnemucca” during the years of the active Military draft.

After retirement Jackie and Joe enjoyed their time traveling and fishing with some of their longtime friends, Marge and Lornie Fagg, Bill and Ressie Lewis and many others. When they were in Winnemucca their home was known as a gathering place for after work high balls for many years.
