Pershing basketball starts league play on the road

On Monday, Dec. 27, the Pershing County High School JV and varsity basketball teams traveled to Reno. They played their first league game of the year against the Coral Academy Falcons. Tuesday, they headed to Dayton to challenge the Dust Devils in a non-conference match up. Results were not available at press time.

The Mustangs start the new year in Yerington on Friday, Jan.7. Next, they’ll host a couple of games.

Lovelock hosts the Silver Stage Nighthawks on Saturday, Jan. 8. The JV girls will sit this one out since Stage does not have a JV girls team. The JV boys start at 12:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 11, the varsity teams host Oasis Academy. The girls start at 4:30 p.m. The boys tip off at 6 p.m.

It will be the first time playing before a home crowd for many of the players.

The coaches and athletes hope for large turnouts.
