Scott Philip Carpenter passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of December 4, 2021. He was born in Ely, Nevada to John and Roseann
Carpenter on June 13, 1955.
Scott grew up working on a ranch alongside his father and brothers and developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the Ruby Mountains.
He recently took his grandson, Cole, horseback riding with the backdrop of his beloved Ruby Mountains.
In his youth, Scott was active in 4-H and FFA, served as the State FFA President, and received the Star State Greenhand award.
He graduated from Elko High School and the University of Nevada-Reno.
After college, Scott lived in Fallon, NV, and, in his spare time, mentored FFA youth.
From there, he moved closer to home, living in both Elko and Winnemucca.
In his later years he worked with the Nevada Gold Mines as a mechanic in both Elko and Winnemucca. He was a gifted mechanic, his co-workers said he could fix anything.
Scott’s pride and joy were his four children and his grandson. He loved his
family unconditionally and devoted his life to taking care of them – most of the time as a single father while working full time.

Scott was preceded in death by his father John, niece Melissa Rucker, grandparents John and Lucile Carpenter and Clarence and Genevieve Slater,
