Obituary: Connie Lynn Ripley

Connie Ripley, 78, of Battle Mountain, passed away at home on December 3, 2021.

Connie was born on September 26, 1943, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Dale and Ruth Taylor. Her family moved to the outskirts of Battle Mountain, Nevada when she was very young. Her father worked in the mines and her mother ran a boarding house.

Connie learned to cook while helping in the boarding house and she also held a vital role in helping to raise her younger siblings. As the oldest of seven, with two hard working parents, Connie learned her great work ethic early in life.

Connie married Richard (Red) Ripley January 13, 1968. Connie and Red owned and operated several successful Battle Mountain businesses together. Connie worked very hard. She never asked anyone who worked for them to do anything that she wouldn’t do herself and she took just as much, if not more, of the hard work as anyone else.

This wasn’t something extra that had to be asked of her, it was just her nature. Connie was respected and adored by all who knew her, but especially those who had the privilege of working beside her.

Connie was mother to two children, Corine (Corki) and Richard, and a very proud grandmother and great grandmother. Connie lived a happy and hard-working life, never taking more than she needed but always giving more than she had.

When asked about her life, Connie described it as a “good life”.

She stated the accomplishments of her life she was most proud of were her children and grandchildren.

Connie was an avid quilter and when she wasn’t taking care of her family or spending time with family and friends, she could be found in her sewing room making quilts and gifts for all who she loved and cared for.

She will be missed greatly by many but especially by her family.

Connie is survived by her husband, Richard, children Corine (Ron) Snellings and Richard (Chris) Ripley, grandchildren: Cassandra, Kaitlyn, Paige, Brooke, Jackson, Landon, and great grandchild Bronx.

She is also survived by her siblings: Jim (Cammie) Taylor, Alan (Marge) Taylor, Ed (Tana) Taylor, Jane (Jerry) Smith and Jill Taylor and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Joe Taylor.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, December 12th, 2pm-5pm at The Quilt Parlor gathering room. 147 E. Front Street, Battle Mountain, NV.
