Wilma “Jean” Freeland of Winnemucca, NV (78) went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Thursday morning, August 12, 2021. Jean was born in New Palestine, Indiana.
Upon graduating from High School, she left Indiana to serve her country in the United States Air Force.
She later moved to New Mexico where she spent the largest portion of her life working in the public schools and impacting the lives of many children and their parents as well.
After retiring, Jean moved to Winnemucca, Nevada. Not a person to stay home and be idle, she began working in the casinos where she was a mentor and “mother” to anyone in need.
Jean impacted so many people in her 78 years and 11 months of life. From the schools in Thoreau, NM to the casinos in Winnemucca, NV.
Jean left an impression everywhere she went. She lived and loved passionately.
She was a mother and mentor to those in need, a friend to everyone she met and a prayer warrior for her Heavenly Father.
She very selflessly sacrificed for her children and grandchildren.
She instilled a very strong work ethic and set of morals in all those she raised. Her legacy will continue to live on through those she impacted. Jean loved the Lord and was ready for her eternal home.
Although she will be greatly missed, we know that we will see her again some day. Until then, Rest easy Mom.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mae Smith, her sister Betty, her brother Harold, and her husband of 21 years Robert “Boss” Freeland.
She is survived by her brother Charles Smith of Aurora, Co and sister Donna Baca of Denver, Co, her daughter Laura McHenry of Winnemucca, son Kenneth Tucher of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, son Donald Smith of Stuart, Florida, son John Tucher of Rio Rancho, NM and daughter Christina Bennett of Albuquerque, NM.
