Obituary: Dixie (Edgar) Johnson

Dixie (Edgar) Johnson was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 13, 1941 to Dick and Mavis Edgar. 

She was the eldest of 7 children and is preceded in death by Mother and Father, brothers Joe Edgar, Danny (Doc) Edgar and Curt Edgar. 

Dixie is survived by her husband, Robert W. Johnson, daughter Carda (Johnson) Burton, grandchildren Erin (Burton) Krentz and Travis Burton. Great grandchildren Railyn Krentz, Dawson Krentz, and Ebin Burton.

She is also survived by her siblings Rick Edgar, Rex Edgar and Amber (Edgar) Snow. Dixie has many surviving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dick and Mavis moved to Nevada and raised their large family, making Battle Mountain home.

As a young girl, Dixie grew up around several family-owned turquoise mines (Super X and Number 8) are just 2 of them. 

Raised in rural Nevada instilled a love of the outdoors, Dixie carried throughout her life. 

She loved fishing, camping, hunting, digging for bottles and metal detecting. She married the love of her life R.W. (Bob) Johnson and owned businesses: R.W. Johnson Trucking and a partnership in the famous Lander Blue Turquoise Mine.

Dixie enjoyed decorating her lovely Victorian home with antiques. She had a keen eye and knowledge of period correct pieces of historical value.

She loved nothing more than spending time with her grand and great grand kids.

Dixie passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday August 1, 2021 surrounded by her family.
