July 15
Denice Dawn Mckee was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery 1st offense. On May 17 the defendant entered a plea of not guilty and was appointed the alternate public defender. On July 15 the defendant was not present in court nor was her attorney of record. The DA made a motion to dismiss the case as his office could not prove the case without reasonable doubt. The court granted the DA’s motion and the case was dismissed.
Jacob Brooks was charged with count 1 - misdemeanor driving a motor vehicle without a valid drivers license and count 2 - felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle.. On July 15 the defendant was present via phone conference with his court appointed alternate public defender present in court. Pursuant to plea negotiations, the defendant entered a guilty plea. The court accepted the defendant’s plea and ruled as follows: Count 1 - fine $310 + $115 AA for a total of $425 to be paid. The defendant was given credit for time served. The DA made a motion to dismiss count 2. The court granted the DA’s motion.
July 21
Amritpal Singh was charged with misdemeanor basic speed - speed too fast for conditions. At the hearing on July 21, the citation was amended by Deputy District Attorney Mark Shockley to NRS 484B.617 Rural Speed. Defendant was ordered to pay the citation fine of $195 within thirty days.
Jessica Lynn Rogers was charged with misdemeanor fail to yield from stop or yield, fail to obey traffic control device, fail to wear seat belt and child restraint violation. The defendant was present for the hearing on July 21 and met with DDA Shockley. Mr. Shockley dismissed the citation and the case was closed.
July 26
Joy Margaret Orser was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence 1st offense and driving with an open container in the vehicle. At the hearing on July 26, the defendant was present via ZOOM with her counsel Kyle Swanson. The defendant entered a guilty plea. The court accepted her plea and ruled as follows: 30 days jail with 28 days stayed for a period of 1 year, stayed jail time on the condition she serve 2 days. Defendant was given credit for 19 hours time served. The remaining balance was converted to 29 hours community service to be completed by December 13, 2021. Defendant also ordered to pay a fine of $400 + $125 AA + $60 Forensic Fee to be taken from cash bail posted. The DUI School and Victim Impact Panel was ordered to be completed by December 31, 2021 with an online format approved. Finally, the defendant was ordered to have the breath interlock device for a period of 185 days.
Reid Harlan Schwartz was charged in June of 2020 with misdemeanor driving under the influence with one prior conviction within the last seven years and driving on the highway having multiple marked lanes for traffic. On June 22, 2020 Schwartz pled not guilty and the court appointed the public defender to represent him in this matter. After several off the record agreements to reset the case, the sentence hearing was held on May 24, 2021. Pursuant to negotiations the defendant changed his plea to guilty to count 1 - DUI 2nd offense. An alcohol evaluation was ordered by the court. The court accepted the defendant’s guilty plea and ruled as follows: 60 days jail with 50 days stayed for the period of 1 year. Stayed jail time on the condition the defendant serve 10 days with credit for 4 days time served. The remaining balance was converted to 12 days house arrest to be completed by August 10, 2021. The defendant was also ordered to pay a fine of $750 + $140 AA + $60 Forensic Fee for a total of $950. The defendant requested to be set up on a payment plan in which they will pay $50 a month with the first payment due on or before August 1, 2021. Furthermore, the court ordered DUI School and victim impact pannel to be approved by September 30, 2021 with an approval for online school. The defendant was ordered to have the breath interlock device for a period of 1 year. The defendant is to continue with his current counseling with Dr. Smith for a dual diagnosis and follow all recommendations.
July 27
Jared Stanley Pearson was charged with gross misdemeanor battery on an officer. On April 24, 2020 the defendant was released on a medical own recognizance prior to the completion of the booking process. On July 27, 2021 the defendant was present in court with attorney Jeffery Miller. Pursuant to negotiation the state amended the complaint to NRS 200.481 simple battery. The defendant entered a guilty plea to the amended charge. The court accepted the defendant’s plea and ruled as follows: Fine of $1000 + $140 AA for a total of $1,140 to be paid by the defendant.
