The Nevada High School Rodeo Association made its latest stop in Sparks on April 10-11 with the Spanish Springs High School Rodeo.
Humboldt County’s Emma Garijo turned in a second-place finish in the barrel racing two-day average with a time of 36.025 seconds. She tied for second in the first go-around at 18.103 and was third in the second performance at 17.992.
Garijo was third in pole bending with a combined time of 42.753. She was the runner-up in the second go-around with a time of 21.059.
Garijo was 14th in the breakaway roping, with just one timed run. She had no time in the first go-around and stopped the clock at 4.41 in the second go-around to place ninth in that performance.
Ashley Rookstool turned in a third-place finish in girls cutting with 139 points.
Lexi Garijo was 12th in the barrel racing average, including a ninth-place finish in the second goa-round. She was 15th in breakaway roping and 18th in pole bending.
Sadie Hinkey finished 18th in breakaway roping, Sierra Fears was 19th in pole bending and 24th in barrel racing.
Cooper Hill earned a runner-up finish in boys cutting with 140 points, while Billy DeLong was fifth with 135 points. DeLong was second in steer wrestling, as he won the second goa-round with a time of 23.510. Hill was seventh in team roping with partner Grant Kiechler of Eureka.
The Battle Mountain Rodeo Club had four girls in the top nine in the barrel racing average. Desatoya Coombs, Emma Lemaire and Italy Jo Holman were fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Coombs won the second performance of barrel racing with a time of 17.642.
Amelia Lancaster was ninth in the average and Jolena Ayers was 16th.
Italy Jo Holman was second in girls cutting and Lancaster seventh.
Battle Mountain had three riders in the top five in breakaway roping, with Lemaire and Holman placing second and third. Lancaster picked up a fifth-place finish and Gracie Lou Holman was 23rd and Coombs 26th.
Ayers was 15th in goat tying and Lancaster 24th, while Lancaster was sixth in the goat tying average. Coombs and Lemaire were not far behind, finishing eighth and ninth, respectively, in the event. Gracie Lou Holman placed 15th and Ayers was 27th.
Lovelock’s Jette Black and Kole Black were 10th and 11th in the barrel racing average. Jette Black placed 10th in breakaway roping and Kole Black was 16th. Jette Black was 12th in pole bending and Kole Black placed 29th.
In the junior high division. Humboldt County’s Brynn Barto won the barrel racing average with a time of 37.443. Barto added a third-place finish in breakaway roping, 12th in goat tying and 16th in pole bending.
Matti DeLong won the ribbon with partner Jace Harry of Fernley in a time of 36.940. The duo won the second performance in a time of 17.830.
DeLong was second in pole bending with a time of 44.666, fourth in breakaway roping, eighth in barrel racing and ninth in goat tying.
Natalie Mori was fifth in breakaway roping, 17th in barrel racing and 22nd in pole bending.
Byrd Lane placed fourth in boys goat tying, eighth in ribbon roping and ninth in boys breakaway roping.
Battle Mountain’s Eli Lancaster placed third in boys breakaway roping, fifth in chute dogging and sixth in team roping.
Battle Mountain’s Jorja Mashburn was 10th in girls goat tying, 14th in girls breakaway roping and 21st in pole bending.
