Aaron Crutcher, age 35, faces felony and misdemeanor charges of invasion of the home, ex-felon possession of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, eluding where others may be endangered and reckless driving following an incident that led to his arrest in McDermitt on April 15, 2021.
Crutcher was identified as a suspect following a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigation in two separate home invasion incidents with use of a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon and ex-felon in possession of a firearm in McDermitt on March 31, 2021.
Crutcher allegedly entered two different residences by force and threatened the occupants with the use of a firearm, and discharged the firearm at one of the residences before fleeing.
As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Crutcher on April 15; at approximately 4:45 p.m. on April 15, he was located by HCSO driving on US Highway 95 in Orovada.
Crutcher fled from deputies at a high rate of speed when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
“Due to the serious nature of the offenses Crutcher was wanted for, a pursuit was continued for an extended period of time that traveled from US 95 in Orovada to Kings River Valley and back to US 95,” said HCSO in a press release. “The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Nevada Highway Patrol, Bureau of Indian Affairs Law Enforcement, and Winnemucca Police Department during this incident.”
Crutcher reportedly surrendered peacefully on US 95 at Homestead Road without any use of force by the law enforcement agencies involved and was transferred to the Humboldt County Detention Center.
Crutcher’s charges included invasion of the home, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, eluding where others may be endangered, and reckless driving, with a $95,750 bail.
