Nellie Mona Lou Schofield passed away on March 25, 2021 at the age of 83 years old.
She was born on November 21, 1937 in Snowville, Utah to Forrest Andrew Jackson Cagle and Ida Wren.
She was raised in Snowville, Utah until the age of 19. She and her family lived in Sparks, Reno, Wadsworth and Imlay, Nevada over the next 13 years. Golconda became her home for the next 27 years. She made one last move to Winnemucca and remained there her last 24 years.
Nellie graduated from Bear River High School in Garland, Utah. She then attended Great Basin College for computer courses to advance her career opportunities.
She worked at Winner’s Inn Casino as a cashier at Pete’s Coffee Shop for many years and then worked at the Humboldt County Library for 19 years until her retirement.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints Ward 3. She served as a Primary Teacher and Church Librarian. Nellie enjoyed sewing, gardening, and Tri-chem painting.
She enjoyed her family and getting together for family reunions. She enjoyed her summers in Mountain City, Nevada and visiting and sharing family stories with her two sisters every Sunday on the phone.
Nellie is survived by her 4 sons, Rick (Marla) Schofield, Raymond Schofield, Dennis Schofield, and
Dale (Bronwyn) Schofield, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Sisters Kathy (Darl) Wellard of El Cajon, CA, Valorie Wyald of Salt Lake City, UT, and Jennie Merkley of Jerome, ID. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Henry, Forrest, Ray, and Nolan Cagle. Sisters, Laura Sloan and Clara Mae Wren and granddaughter April Schofield.
A graveside service for Nellie Mona Lou Schofield will be held on April 8, 2021 at 11 am at the Winnemucca Cemetery in Winnemucca, NV.
The Schofield Family wishes to express our deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses and CNAs who cared for Nellie during her last days at Humboldt General Hospital. A special thank you to Sherrie Chavez for her friendship with Nellie and the care and support she provided Nellie.
