It took a little longer than planned, but the three seniors on the Battle Mountain High School girls golf team were able to play on their home course.

The original tournament scheduled for Mountain View Golf Course in early March was postponed due to snow.

The weather proved to be bothersome once again on Monday, March 29, as Battle Mountain hosted the Elko JV and Wells in cold and windy conditions.

Battle Mountain’s Destiny Villanueva made the best of the conditions, winning low medalist honors at 105.

Elko’s Gabby Peracchi was second at 106 and Wells’ Grace Calton (108) and Mackenzie Wachtel (109) were third and fourth, respectively.

Battle Mountain’s Adriana Robles rounded out the top five with a round of 116.

Savanah Grant completed the scores for the Lady Longhorns at 142.

Wells won the team championship with a score of 461 and Elko was second at 494.

Battle Mountain did not have enough players for a team total. Four scores are needed to record a team score.
