On September 23, 2020, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested Jared Paul Bannon, age 23, on several felony charges including lewdness with a child under the age of 14.
Bannon was charged with two counts of felony sexual assault, two counts felony lewdness with a child under the age of 14, two counts of felony child abuse, two counts of felony committing certain sex acts in public, one count of misdemeanor distributing obscene material to a minor and three felony counts of using technology to lure children with a total bail of $3,060,640.
HCSO officials said that the investigation began in August 2020 and that the investigation is ongoing; it is believed that there are additional minor victims and additional charges may be filed.
