Obituary: Diane Stewart

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Diane Stewart, passed away at home in Winnemucca, NV, on August 23, 2020 at the age of 76.

Born October 5, 1943 in Salinas, CA, she was raised in Salinas and graduated from Salinas High School in 1962.

Diane married her “knight in shining armor”, Joseph Stewart in 1975, and they moved to Winnemucca in 1989.

Diane spent her career caring for and educating children, retiring from the Humboldt County School District as a Special Education Teachers Aide in 2005.

Diane enjoyed spending time with her family, faithfully taking photos and updating the family photo albums. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, planning family events, camping, traveling, gardening, reading, cooking, and crocheting.

She will be lovingly remembered by her friends and family including her husband of 45 years, Joe; children Celeste (Michael) Lester of Winnemucca, NV, Elizabeth (Epi) Diaz of Winnemucca, NV, and Alyssa (Mac) Bones of Jackson, WY; grandchildren Joseph (Mayelie), Wyatt, and Levi Lester, Rian, Macy, and Jack DeLong, and Bowman and Seeley Bones; great-grandchildren Amelia, Aspen, Noah, and Silas Lester, and sister Pam Pepper of Sacramento, CA.

She was predeceased by her parents, Marvin and Margie Pepper, her brother, Thomas Pepper, and her niece, Erin Vaught.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.

As a companion to many animals over her lifetime including dog Kirby and cat Abby, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to your local animal rescue.

The family would like to thank Genesis Home Health and Hospice, the Harmony Manor Nursing Facility, and Renown Regional Medical Center for the exceptional, loving, compassionate care they provided.
