Harold Richard Crosthwaite better known as Dick to those who knew him passed away on October 10, 2020, in Battle Mountain.  

He was a long time Winnemucca and Battle Mountain resident.

Harold Richard Crosthwaite was born September 21, 1926, in Buena Park California to Mary Elizabeth Beeson Crosthwaite and Herbert Oliver Crosthwaite.

Dick Graduated High School from Galt High School in 1941 and went to business school and gained an associate in business and studies aeronautical aviation.

He worked for Pan American Airways with his brother Eugene 1943 before he joined the Navy. Dick was a 2nd class US Navy cook and he entered the Navy in 1943 and 1946.

In 1948 he took up a career in auto body with his brother James Crosthwaite and that was his profession this entire life along with Upholstery. 

He married Ruth Haney in 1951. He was the Justice of the Peace in Golconda from 1965-1969 and loved talking to others about his trials on the hood of a car.

He owned businesses in Battle Mountain, Nevada, Rock Springs Wyoming, Green River Wyoming, Kemmerer Wyoming, and Winnemucca Nevada. 

He retired in 2019 from Dick’s Upholstery at the age of 93 when he moved back to Battle Mountain.

Dick loved horses and visiting with anyone who enjoyed his company.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Haney Crosthwaite, his mother Mary E Beeson Crosthwaite and father Herbert O Crosthwaite, his brothers James B. Crosthwaite of Folsom, Harry Crosthwaite of Roseburg, Ore, Eugene Crosthwaite Felton CA and his sister Freda Crosthwaite Spivey of Porterville, his granddaughter Lorena Crosthwaite and his Grandson Turner Price of Battle Mountain.

He is survived by his eight children, Michael A Crosthwaite (Linda) of Reno Nevada, Ruby E Spencer of San Antonio Texas, Richard O Crosthwaite of Battle Mountain, Nevada, James L Crosthwaite (Cheri) of Winnemucca Nevada, Jay F Crosthwaite of Cambodia, Madonna EM Crosthwaite Long of Kemmerer Wyoming, Alicia Price (Todd) of Battle Mountain Nevada , Barbara DJ Mowry (Tiffany) of Salt Lake City Utah, adopted son Randy Coy of Winnemucca. Also, by his nephew Herbert E Spivey of California who was like his brother and his niece Billy Jo-Ann Crosthwaite Withrow of Virginia and many great-nieces and nephews his 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
