Battle Mountain Rodeo Club post strong finishes on home turf

The Battle Mountain High School Rodeo Club played host to the Nevada High School Rodeo Association on Sept. 25-27 and had a number of strong performances.

Italy Jo Holman, Amelia Lancaster and Jolena Ayers finished fourth, fifth and sixth in the barrel racing average over two performances. 

Holman had the best run of the three, with a time of 16.926 seconds in the second performance.

Emma Lemaire made it four Battle Mountain competitors in the top-10 in barrel racing, placing 10th. Gracie Lou Holman and Desatoya Coombs were 23rd and 24th in barrel racing.

Italy Jo Holman was 12th in the breakaway roping average, while Lancaster was 16th and Gracie Lou Holman was 18th. Lancaster and Gracie Lou Holman were fifth and sixth in girls cutting.

Lancaster and Ayers placed 13th and 14th in goat tying, while Lancaster posted a sixth-place finish in pole bending. Club teammates, Italy Jo Holman and Ayers were seventh and ninth, respectively, in pole bending. Gracie Lou Holman, Coombs and Lemaire were 14th, 16th and 21st in pole bending.

In the junior high school division, Jorja Mashburn placed ninth in ribbon roping, 10th in barrel racing, 14th in breakaway roping, 16th in goat tying and 19th in pole bending. Danielle Madalena was 18th in goat tying.

Eli Lancaster earned a runner-up finish in chute dogging, sixth in breakaway roping and 12th in ribbon roping. Wyatt Lusk placed fifth in chute dogging.

Battle Mountain is in Elko this weekend.
