Two men were recently ordered to serve prison sentences on felony charges after several probation violations following felony convictions.

Jesse Simpson was sent to carry out two 19-48 month prison sentences after admitting to probation violations.

Simpson was originally convicted of two felonies, grand larceny and obtaining money or goods under false pretenses in July 2017 and ordered to five years of probation and drug court on both cases on suspended 19-48 month sentences.

Simpson admitted to two probation violations of failing to meet his financial obligations in May 2020 and failing to complete the 18-month drug court program for 31 months. He was given another chance to complete the probation on modified terms.

Simpson appeared in court in September 2020 and admitted to two probation violations, including the use of methamphetamine with his significant other who is also a graduate of the Humboldt County Drug Court program while there were children living in the home with them.

Simpson was ordered to serve 45 days in jail on each of the two probation violations consecutively at the September hearing.

At the November hearing, Simpson admitted to two probation violations and both he and his attorney asked that he be dishonorably discharged from probation, disqualifying him from being placed on probation in any future case.

“If you give me a chance to do it all over again I would definitely choose the right path and go on with my life and take care of my family,” said Simpson.

Sixth Judicial District Court Judge Michael Montero ordered that the probation be revoked and the two 19-48 month prison sentences be served by Simpson concurrently with 165 days credit for time served.

“I hear Mr. Simpson loud and clear, he is struggling with an addiction in which he was given a lot of opportunities and a treatment program to try to change his behaviors,” said Montero.

Dylan Eugene Jerome admitted to nine separate probation violations in Sixth Judicial District Court on November 17, 2020.

Jerome was initially convicted of a category D felony possession of a controlled substance in August 2017 and placed on probation on a suspended 12-34 month prison sentence.

He admitted to violating the financial obligations of his probation including failing to complete the Elko Drug Court program in September 2018 and was given another chance at probation at 23 years old, at which time he had applied to and been accepted to attend a 6-12 month therapeutic recovery program on a ranch in Fallon.

Jerome returned to court in May 2020 and admitted to violating six separate terms of his probation and his attorney stated that he was at a therapeutic ranch for 15 months and immediately relapsed and lasted six months after he was out before being arrested on new charges.

Jerome was allowed to return back on probation on the condition that he return to the therapeutic ranch to finish his term of probation in Fallon.

In the most recent probation violation hearing on November 17, Jerome and his attorney told the court that he had been sent to prison on his other cases out of Elko and asked that the prison sentence be ordered to run concurrent to those sentences.

The court ordered that Jerome’s probation be revoked and that he carry out the 12-34 month prison sentence with 21 days credit for time served with the sentence to run concurrent to his other sentences.
