Pahranagat Valley (Class 1A), The Meadows (2A), Boulder City (3A) and Bishop Manogue (4A) are the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association/One Nevada Credit Union’s ONE NEVADA CUP champions for the 2019-2020 school year.
The NIAA, the non-profit governing body of high school athletics in the Silver State, began this awards program in 2001.
One Nevada Credit Union, the title sponsor of the NIAA, became the presenting partner in 2019.
The Award of Excellence in Academic, Athletics and Citizenship changed its name to the ONE NEVADA CUP in 2019.
The One Nevada Cup’s scoring system awards points to member schools based on their varsity teams’ performances in the classrooms, at the sporting venues and with the Citizenship Through Sports initiative.
Each of the three major categories in high school activities – academics, athletics and sportsmanship – are weighted equally, and boys and girls programs are combined in the standings table.
Spirit and student council / leadership points were added after the conclusion of the winter season. Points were deducted at the conclusion of the academic year for coach and player ejections, and other acts of unsportsmanlike conduct.
It is important to note that the 2019-2020 One Nevada Cup had restricted use of points because of school closures this spring.
This year, spring season athletic and academic points, along with Citizenship points, were not included.
The NIAA and One Nevada will honor the winning school in each classification by presenting it with a championship banner and commemorative trophy in August.
The NIAA office staff, Board of Control members / liaisons and member schools consider the One Nevada Cup to be the Silver State’s top overall high school sports team competition.

Pahranagat Valley captured its 14th Class 1A title overall and fourth in the last five years.
The Panthers scored 1,120 points to out-distance the field. Wells (810), Sierra Lutheran (680), Smith Valley (510), Mineral County (490), Sage Ridge (480), Green Valley Christian (460), Virginia City (420), Eureka (320) and Coleville (270) rounded out the top 10.
The Meadows won its seventh consecutive and 12th title overall. The Mustangs tallied 1,150 points in a closely contested Class 2A competition. Lincoln County (1,000), Incline (750), North Tahoe (740), West Wendover (730), Yerington (625), Battle Mountain (540), Lake Mead (485), White Pine (430) and Coral Academy Reno (420) completed the top 10’s final standings.
Boulder City made it a four-peat for banner years. The Eagles recorded 1,565 points in winning their 11th Cup overall ahead of stout competition. Spring Creek (1,305), Moapa Valley (1,225), Virgin Valley (1,140), Truckee (1,105), Fernley (955), Del Sol (670), Churchill County (605) and Mojave (605) completed the top 10.
Bishop Manogue secured its eighth title — all within the last 11 years — by continuing on an even-year winning streak lately.
The Miners compiled 1,600 points to finish in front of many traditional challengers and a few newcomers to the highest performing list. Galena (1,310), Liberty (1,060), Faith Lutheran (1,050), Spanish Spring (1,035), Douglas (970), Reno (960), Foothill (940), Clark (905) and Palo Verde (895) all garnered top-10 showings.
