Robert Edward Ross admitted to furnishing a weapon, fascimile or intoxicants to a prisoner, a gross misdemeanor and was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail.

Ross, age 34, admitted to contributing to making pruno, an illicit alcoholic beverage with another inmate while incarcerated at the Humboldt County Detention Center on another charge.

Ross told the court that he was detoxing from alcohol at the time of his offense.

The department of parole and probation recommended that Ross complete the Humboldt County Adult Drug Court program on a suspended 180 day jail sentence and gross misdemeanor charge.

Humboldt County Alternate Public Defender Maureen McQuillan asked the court to sentence her client to 30 days in jail and District Attorney Richard Haas concurred with the recommendation.

The maximum sentence for the gross misdemeanor includes up to 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine with the eligibility for probation.

Sixth Judicial District Court Judge Michael Montero pronounced Ross guilty of the gross misdemeanor charge and sentenced him to 90 days in jail with no credit for time served. He was also ordered to pay a $250 public defender fee, $25 administrative assessment fee and $3 DNA fee.
