Gustavo Carrillo was recently sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 10 years following a guilty plea to a category A felony charge of trafficking in a controlled substance level three.
Carrillo, age 43, was one of three arrested on felony drug trafficking charges in July 2019 after a multi-agency seizure of approximately 487 grams of methamphetamine, 149 grams of black tar heroin, 68 grams of cocaine, 188 grams of marijuana and four firearms.
Carrillo was originally charged with seven different felony charges including two level three trafficking charges that carried the potential of a life sentence on each count.
Yude Saldana-Avila, age 33, who was arrested during the seizure, was sentenced to prison in October for 12-48 months on a category B felony charge of trafficking in a controlled substance level one.
Ruben Santillan Barrera, age 23, who was also arrested during the raid, pleaded guilty to two drug trafficking charges last year and was sentenced in November. Barrera was ordered to serve five to 12.5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Sixth Judicial District Court Judge Michael Montero sentenced Carrillo to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 10 years, with 258 days credit for time served given. Carrillo was also ordered to pay a $20,0000 fine, $5,000 public defender fee, $153 DNA collection and analysis fee and $25 administrative assessment fee.
Carrillo apologized to the court and said he is sorry for waht he did and for what he caused to the people involved.
