Man sentenced to jail on conspiracy to commit burglary

Donald Gordon Sokolov Jr., age 37, was sentenced to a maximum 364-day jail sentence recently after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary, a gross misdemeanor in Nevada.

Sokolov received the maximum jail sentence allowed for the gross misdemeanor charge.

Sokolov asked the court to sentence him to jail time rather than a term of probation.

Sokolov was arrested after entering the store Real Deals in Winnemucca after a window had been broken on November 20, 2019.

Sokolov said the store owner is a friend of his and that he was only entering the store because he saw someone running out of the store.

In the hearing the court was made aware that he has prior felony convictions and records in both Washington and Alaska. He said that he doesn’t think his past criminal record should go against him in this matter.

Sixth Judicial District Court Judge Michael Montero sentenced Sokolov to 346 days in jail with 50 days credit for time served and ordered him to pay a $153 DNA collection and analysis fee and $25 administrative assessment fee.
