McDermitt High School sophomore Tristan Bitt was one of four Bulldogs honored in the Eastern 1A all-league selections, chosen by the league coaches.
Bitt was named to the first team and was the leading scorers for McDermitt this season. He averaged 14 points a game, to go with 4.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and one block a game.
Owyhee’s Clayton Cota was named the Offensive layer of the Year, while Jackpot’s Hugo Sanchez was the Defensive Player of the Year.
Jackpot’s Lupe Gonzalez was named the Coach of the Year and Carlin earned the team sportsmanship award.
Joining Bitt on the first team was Jackpot’s Steve Rodriguez and Carlos Mora, Wells’ Riley Stewart, Eureka’s Chase Green and Owyhee’s Rigo Cordova.
Fellow sophomore Enrique Villalobos was named to the all-league, second team. Villalobos was the second-leading scorer on the team with 9.9 points a game, but was one of the best rebounders in the league at 11.6 a contest.
The second team was filled out by Wells’ Jared Martinez, Brent Battenfield and Matthew James, Eureka’s Gage Hayward and Owyhee’s Julian Dick.
Senior Waylon Nino and sophomore Alex Navarro received honorable mention status.
Nino averaged 2.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 2.1 steals a game. Navarro averaged 4.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.3 steals a game.
The honorable mention team also included Owyhee’s Micah Johnson and Sequoia Robideaux, Wells’ Hyrum Johnson and Blake Figueroa, Carlin’s John Henderson, Jackpot’s Emanuel Salas and Lund’s Justin Remington.
McDermitt finished 6-17 overall and 4-8 in the Eastern 1A.
