Davidson Sr.
1938 -2020
On June 15th, 2020 Robert "Bobby" Davidson Sr. passed away at the age of 82 at Humboldt General Hospital following complications of a recent illness.
With his faithful wife and son by his bedside, Bob entered the loving arms of his savior Jesus Christ.
Born in 1938 in Bakersfield, California to "Gib" and Margaret Davidson, Bob would spend much of his youth in the Brownsville, Texas area where he developed his love of aviation from his father, a Pan American Airways mechanic during World War Il. Later "Gib" and second wife Velma would own and operate the famous Vermillion Restaurant of which Bob had so many fond memories.
His grandparents, Charles Marvin and Rebecca Davidson, were also instrumental in his early development and religious heritage.
Bob had a very full and adventurous life, doing most anything he set his mind to do.
As a young man he enlisted in the United States Army serving with the 56th AAA Operations. It was during this time that Bob was reunited with his brother Jerry, also serving in the Army. The two had been separated as babies and hadn't met in 19 years.
Following his military years Bob would eventually make his way to Winnemucca, Nevada where his mother Margaret and step-father Al Wilkerson resided.
Bob would later enter law enforcement and served with the Winnemucca Police Department and Lovelock Police Department.
His career would lead to Bob becoming the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer in Humboldt County. In this role he was instrumental in the development of the Juvenile Detention Center and the local Youth Rec Center. It was during these years that his son Bob Jr. was born.
Bob 's passion for flying developed into his becoming a licensed pilot. He would own many different aircraft over the years and would log innumerable hours of flight time during more than 35 years of being a pilot.
Whether flying drug interdiction or flying cross country or certifying as a float plane operator Bob loved flying and would continue to do so as long as his health allowed. He was also instrumental in both the Winnemucca Municipal Airport and the Lovelock Airfield.
In 1971 Bob would marry Marcella Murphy Scott of Winnemucca. The two would be married for nearly 50 years.
Together they started and ran Bob Davidson Electric Company. Bob held professional licenses as an electrical contractor, and a general contractor, as well as several others. Davidson Electric was a vibrant and vital business throughout Nevada for four decades.
The couple also developed and rented commercial and residential real estate. In later years Bob and Marcella would start the Riverside Grocery Store.
Bob was a long time member of the Grass Valley Baptist Church of Winnemucca.
He was also a long time member of the local Lions club. Bob had been an avid snowmobiler and was the family historian. In his later years he loved to fish, especially at Pyramid Lake.
Bob is survived by his devoted and loving wife Marcella Davidson; his brother Jerry Davidson of Florida; brother Danny Davidson of Texas; and sister Debbie Villarreal also of Texas; son Robert Davidson Jr. of Winnemucca; two grand-children and three great-grandchildren.
