Nevada’s Jensen honored as CoSIDA Academic All-American

RENO — After being named a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree last month, Nevada junior right-handed pitcher Julia Jensen has been selected to the 2020 Academic All-America Division I Softball Third Team.

Jensen is Nevada’s first third team honoree since David Ciarlo of the baseball team that earned the selection in 2008.

She is also the first Wolf Pack softball student-athlete to earn the distinction since Theresa Sims in 1986 and the first since the sport was brought back in 2003.

The neuroscience major has maintained a 4.00 GPA while also being the SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Council) president and the Nevada athletic representative in the Mountain West Conference.

The Sparks, Nevada native has been vital part of the pitching staff for the Wolf Pack, pitching over 277 innings in 69 appearances while tossing 244 strikeouts in her career.

Jensen also recorded three plate appearances prior to the end of the 2020 season.

The 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I Softball Teams feature 14 members with a 4.0 GPA and 19 members with at least a 3.90 GPA as either undergraduate or graduate student-athletes.
