Battle Mountain’s Desi Coombs and Emma Lemaire competed in the National High School Finals Rodeo, which was held in Guthrie, Okla., from July 17-23.
Lemaire took part in the girls cutting and placed fifth in her go-around with a score of 140 points. That was good enough to place her 35th for the entire first performance. She scored 140 points in her second go-around as well, which placed her sixth.
She was 28th in that performance and 23rd overall with 280 points.
Coombs finished eight in her go-around of pole bending with a time of 20.934 seconds, which placed her 41st overall in the first performance, after all the competitors had made their run.
She was eighth in the second go-around with a time of 20.974, which placed her 53rd in the performance. She finished 31st in the average at 41.908.
Coombs also competed in team roping, but did not record a time in either performance.
