Battle Mountain’s Nevaeah Serna was in Carson City this past weekend for the 2020 Blizzard Blast.
Serna took home the top spot in the girls 8 and under 25-yard butterfly with a time of 19.86 seconds to beat Carson’s Aliyah Heyder by .09 seconds.
Serna place third in the girls 8 and under 50-yard butterfly at 55.40, cutting 1.74 seconds off her time. Heyder won that race at 47.75 and Sparks Dominique Dickerson was second at 54.82.
Serna earned the runner-up spot in the girls 8 and under 25-yard freestyle with a time of 17.11, cutting 1.35 seconds off her best time. Heyder also won that race at 16.44.
It was Heyder and Serna in another 1-2 finish in the girls 8 and under 50-yard backstroke. Heyder won with a time of 43.84 and Serna was second at 45.37.
Serna dropped .57 seconds in the girls 8 and under 25-yard backstroke to place in the runner-up spot. Sparks Audrey Evers won with a time of 19.63.
Serna was second in the 25-yard backstroke, stopping the clock at 24.15, 1.71 seconds better than her previous time. However, Heyder took the top spot once again at 23.48.
Heyder and Serna placed first and second in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 1:23.13 ans 1:29.69. Serna was the fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke at 57.28.
Serna dropped 2.17 seconds to place second in the 100-yard individual medley at 1:41.96, while Heyder was first at 1:32.66. In the 50-yard freestyle, Serna was second at 40.27, as Heyder was first at 38.49.
