According to the Lander County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 2:58 p.m. on Dec. 30, 2019, deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of West Antelope in Battle Mountain for a report of a disturbance.
It was reported upon arrival that a male suspect, known as Willard Russie Whisler, attempted to pull a woman into a vehicle without her consent. Authorities are not identifying the victim at this time.
Whisler, 50, was located a short time later and interviewed, subsequently arrested and booked into the Lander County Detention Facility on one count of Attempted Kidnapping.
An investigation is ongoing.
