Lowry sends seven wrestlers to state tournament in Mesquite

The Lowry High School wrestling team will take seven grapplers to the NIAA 3A State Championships this weekend at Virgin Valley High School in Mesquite.
The Buckaroos finished second as a team with 167 points at the regional championships this past weekend in Sparks. 
Spring Creek claimed the regional title with 313.50 points and Fernley was third at 143.50. Elko (139) and South Tahoe (98) rounded out the top five.
Lowry had seven wrestlers in the finals, with Anthony Peterson winning a regional title at 170 pounds and Kole Mattson at 285.
Angel Huerta is returning to the state championships, finishing second at 113 pounds. Isaac Mori earned the runner-up spot at 126 pounds, as did Taylor Corak (132), Caden Ricci (138) and Cade Bell (152).
Jesse Hawkins placed fifth at 145 pounds and is an alternate for the state tournament and Eduardo Aguilar was sixth at 132 pounds.
The NIAA State Championship start at 4 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Virgin Valley High School.
