There will be some new racing at the Winnemucca Regional Raceway this year, as the Amazing Children’s Racing program will be part of the 2020 race season.
Mike Scott from Winnemucca Regional Raceway would like to let everyone know that they are sponsoring a new and exciting children’s race track.
The track is being built to accommodate “Quarter Midgets.” These race cars are the 1/4 size of a full midget race car.
The cars are designed to be ran on dirt or pavement giving families the option to travel and experience the dreams of becoming a professional race car driver someday.
This amazing opportunity for our local families comes from a membership ran organization called Quarter Midgets of America.
The purpose of Quarter Midgets of America (QMA) is to create and maintain a clean, safe, healthy sport, which may be enjoyed by all family members in a close relationship with good sportsmanship toward all.
This program enables children from age 5 to 16 to experience a dream of being behind the wheel and feeling the moment of accomplishment in perceiving the “Race dream”
The program trains each driver thru an amazing process making sure that “SAFETY!!! Is the #1 thing and a smile being also up the ranks in the #1 goal.
QMA also offer an amazing Special Needs Racing program the only Quarter Midget program in the nation. Working close with families that have the means to qualify to enable that little extra smile and race love to be a part of a great organization.
The Nevada Special Needs facility will be at The Winnemucca QMA track. Such an amazing opportunity for those who need that little extra support. Little Champions QMA Team is a nationwide program available at all tracks in the QMA sanction.
We had a chance to talk to Sunny Phillips the QMA Region Director and Special Needs Director She stated with such enthusiasm and a huge smile that 5 tracks are being built here in Nevada. She is so passionate about giving kids the opportunity to get behind the wheel and see what it’s like.
The track will be running Promo days allowing children to Arrive and Drive for a small fee. The first track is the Renegade QMA at our local Winnemucca Regional Raceway , this track is almost done and will be the first track to open and begin training early spring. Nile Valley QMA at Lovelock, SUMMIT QMA at Elko, Rattlesnake QMA at Fallon and Silver State at Battle Mountain.
Thus giving the kids a choice of dirt racing at 5 different tracks, the tracks are built at 1/20 of a mile to high banking to flat each track its own unique and challenge.
Dirt track racing is a fun family sport and we are so excited to be a part of this amazing new family opportunity right here in our hometown.
We will be following along closely as this program becomes an impact in our local community and be right there for the tears of joy.
With some help also from some of our amazing local businesses and race teams that have come on aboard to get this track up and going, Phillips Racing, Dustin Phillips Motorsports, The Renegade Monster Bus, Model-T -Casino, Desert Disposal, Winnemucca Inn and Car Quest.
Be sure to catch a update each week on the Winnemucca QMA Dirt track News we will fill you in on upcoming Meet and Greets and local events happening at the track.
