Brandon Leonard Anderson, age 39, was ordered to serve a 13-33 month prison sentence recently after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a category E felony in Nevada.
Anderson admitted to possessing methamphetamine on December 27, 2019, in Humboldt County knowingly, willfully and unlawfully.
Potential penalties for the felony include 1-4 years in prison and a maximum $5,000 fine with probation mandatory and diversion possible in most cases.
At his sentencing hearing on December 15, 2020, in Sixth Judicial District Court, Anderson and his attorney requested that he be sent to do his time in prison rather than complete drug court.
Anderson said that he would not be a good candidate for the Humboldt County Adult Drug Court Program.
With three prior felony convictions, Anderson was sentenced to 13-33 months in prison with 93 days credit for time served. He was ordered to pay a $153 DNA collection and analysis fee, $25 administrative assessment fee and $60 forensic fee.
