Raul Munoz Sr. of Winnemucca, Nevada, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2020 at his home. Raul was born on April 30, 1949 in Mexico City, Mexico to Socorro Gutierrez and Miguel Munoz.
Raul is survived by his 3 daughters and 1 son: Veronica Hernandez (Roberto Hernandez Sr.), Erika Garcia (Ruben Garcia), Raul Munoz Jr. (Elvia Munoz) and Stephanie Richey (Andrew Richey). Raul has 9 grandchildren: Natali Justo (Sergio Justo), Carina and Roberto Hernandez Jr., Kayla, and R.J. Garcia, Madysson, Mackenzee, and Makenna Munoz, and Avery Richey.
He has 3 great-grandchildren: Sergio Jr., Sebastian, and Santiago Justo. He is also survived by his 4 siblings: Gustavo Munoz, Maria Lopez, Alicia Sapien, Estela Munoz Gutierrez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raul moved to Winnemucca in 1985 with his wife and 3 kids from Mexico City, Mexico to find better opportunities. In the 35 years that he lived in Winnemucca, he worked at Delong Ford for 15 plus years, as well as many other jobs, and more recently spent the past 2 years working at Khoury’s Market.
During these times, Raul got to meet the majority of his lifelong friends. Raul was always a hard-working man and took pride in providing for his family.
Raul was a fan of soccer and baseball and enjoyed watching his favorite teams play, Las Chivas and the L.A. Dodgers.
Other things he enjoyed were having breakfast at Sids Restaurant and listening to music, especially his all-time favorite bands, the Rolling Stones and The Beatles. He also loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and friends.
After work, he would always ensure to take his grandkids donuts or ice cream. Raul was a very loving, caring and kind-hearted person that always had a contagious smile on his face. He thoroughly enjoyed making people laugh with his jokes and always found a way to bring light into people’s lives.
Raul is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years. Guadalupe Munoz, his parents, Socorro and Miguel Munoz, his paternal grandparents, Braulio Munoz and Francisca Sanchez, and his maternal grandparents, Cresenciano Gutierrez and Paula Marquez.
We thank you for always being a loving and caring father/grandfather. We thank God for blessing us with such a gift. You were such a bright light in this world; always making people laugh and smile. We will always cherish the beautiful memories you gave us. We love you immensely.
