Born on November 22, 1940 in Wappapello, MO, Roy passed away on June 28,2020 in Reno, NV surrounded by his family.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Pinkney and Nettie Graham, 5 brothers, Chris, Bill, Francis, LeRoy and Manuel and his son Wayne.
Roy is survived by his wife Joanne, sons Frank (Frankie) Graham, Robert (Connie) Graham, daughter Vonni (Kevin) Hemp, grandchildren Ashley Graham Hemp, Tryna (Lucas) Alexander, Shelby Graham, Alexandria Graham, Michael (Earon) Maneotis, Tyler Maneotis, great grandchildren Blake Roy and Emilia Jo Alexander, Kamren Beasley-Prince, Rhyan and Keane Maneotis. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy moved with his family to California in 1943 and then to Lovelock in 1947.
He went to school in Lovelock, at the age of 8 he started working after school and weekends for Mose’ Quilici driving tractor and later would go on to bucking and hauling hay in the summers from the fields to the stackyards for numerous local ranches.
When Roy got to be a little older, he started hauling hay out of town with one of his older brothers.
On August 28, 1960, Roy married Joanne Cannon, they started a family and made Lovelock their lifelong home.
They purchased their first truck and started a business known as Roy Graham Trucking.
Roy spent the next 35 years hauling hay to Ranches and Dairies in Nevada and California. When Roy ended his career in bucking and hauling hay, he tried his hand at mining.
He went to work for Oreca on the blasting crew at Florida Canyon about 5 years before settling into retirement.
After retiring Roy enjoyed hunting and fishing and camping with his family and friends as well as just sitting and enjoying a Race on TV.
You could usually count on seeing “Pop” taking a daily drive with Prissy his little dog and his granddaughter Ashley.
Roy loved to gather with his family for a meal and a good conversation.
Roy couldn’t quite give up his love of being on the road, he would volunteer to make a road trip with anyone that needed a driver or just the company of a ride along.
He will be missed but the memories he leaves behind will be forever treasured.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Cancer Care Specialists, Renown lnstitute for Cancer and Reno Orthopedic Clinic for the care they have given Roy over these last couple years.
