Obituary: Melanie Lynn Parry-Withers

On Thursday, July 23, 2020, Melanie Lynn Parry-Withers (44), passed away at home surrounded by family.

Melanie was born in Emmett, Idaho on October 10, 1975 to Rick and Joyce Parry.

She spent her first 4 years of life in Idaho, then lived in Winnemucca for the last 40 years. She loved it here and never wanted to move.

Melanie graduated from Lowry High School in 1994 and was married to Arthur Dale Withers for 20 years until his passing. She had no biological children, but she helped raise all of her nieces and nephews.

Raised in Winnemucca most of her life, she touched a lot of people. She loved singing and treated us all to karaoke nights.

There are not a lot of people who did not know about the Singing Purple Lily. Melanie was a bright shining light to all who met her.

She was fun, outgoing, and full of life. She graced the stage with the White Sage Theater and sang with the Winnemucca Civic Chorus. She also loved reading, taking lots of pictures, and playing games with friends and family across the world.

She loved spending quality time with her family. She treasured getting her nails done with her mom once a month.

This time was set aside special, just for them. She could talk a mile a minute and never run out of things to say.

She wanted to tell all her stories fast. She smiled and laughed all the time. She will be missed by all she held dear.

Melanie would want us to remember not to be sad that she died, but to be happy that she lived.

Melanie will be forever remembered by her parents Rick and Joyce Parry, by her sister Melissa (Paul) Head and brothers Ricky (Megan) Parry, John (Rebecca) Parry and Anthony (Kaitlyn) Parry. Melanie will also be forever remembered by her numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Melanie was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Dale Withers, Nephew, Kaleb Alexander Parry, and grandparents Junior and Darlene Plumb, John Parry, and Iva Mae Heath.

We would like to thank the EMTs from Humboldt County, Pershing County Volunteer Fire Department and Deputy Adam Nicholson from Pershing County for all their help and special treatment they gave our family.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 for Melanie’s family at 1:00 pm at Sonoma Funeral Home, 47 W 1st St, Winnemucca, Nevada.

There will be a service at the Winnemucca Cemetery at 2:00 pm in the Veterans section for all who wish to attend.

There will also be a reception after the graveside service at 192 Museum Ave, Winnemucca, Nevada.
