Jack passed away July 26, 2020 with family by his side.

He was born June 23, 1937 to George Jackson Marrs Sr. and Frances Stone Marrs in Elko, Nevada. He was raised in the Denio/Paradise Valley/ Winnemucca area and attended Humboldt County Schools, graduating in 1955 from Humboldt County High School.

Jack went to work for Pacific Telephone/Nevada Bell in 1955. In 1981 transferred to AT&T, Seattle, Washington and retired from AT&T, December 31, 1989. After retirement, he attended Renton Technical College and completed a degree in Major Appliance Electrical and Refrigeration, subsequently becoming a “Maytag Man.”

Jack served in the Nevada and Washington State National Guard and was honorably discharged from the US Army Reserve in 1990.

Jack was a lifetime member of the Tonopah and Winnemucca Masonic Orders, as well as  a member of the Tonopah Elks.

To anyone who knew Jack as the gentle, compassionate and generous soul he was, it will come as no surprise that almost 15 years ago he made the decision, that at the time of his death, to donate his body to UNR Medical School Anatomical donation program to promote medical science and research. 

In the near future his ashes will be returned to his family who will accompany them to their final resting place in Winnemucca, Nevada.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy of 40 years, 4 daughters; Jaci (Lee), Kerri Jo Marrs, Nicole (Naucler) and Colleen Cooper (Paul) eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many dear and treasured friends.

We will forever cherish the memory of his beloved dog, Zena, who was always by his side.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Frances Prewett and Jack Marrs; stepfather, Luther Prewett; two brothers, Len Marrs and Robert Burhans; and sisters, Beverly Horton and Barbara Harbit.

Per Jack’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. If you should so choose, a donation may be made in his name to the Shriners Hospital for Children 2425 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95817
