Obituary: Barbara Jean Darby

Barbara Jean Darby passed away at her home on April 11, 2020 at 8:27 am.

Barbara was born February 7, 1946 to Kenneth and Betty Lynch at their home in Redding, Iowa. She has two brothers Keith and Kevin Lynch.

She was preceded in death by her son Darin Lee Darby and her grandson Camryn Jade Darby.

She is survived by her husband Larry E. Darby and her son David Lin Darby, her brother Keith and his wife, Tonya, Lynch, her brother Kevin and his wife, Karen, Lynch, her grandchildren Kylee Darby, Tayler Darby Stokes, Brooklyn Darby and Dustin Darby. She has lots of nieces and nephews.

She and her brothers grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she graduated from Granite High School, despite being in a life-threatening wreck and surviving. She met her husband, Larry Darby. The two were married in Moab, Utah on April 6, 1966. Barbara and Larry raised their two sons in Salt Lake, and she worked as a computer programmer for the state of Utah and Larry worked as a crane operator.

After the boys left home, Larry got a job at Bullfrog Mine in Beatty, Nevada.

Barbara worked as a waitress at the Exchange Club and was there for six and a half years. Barbara and Larry then moved to Winnemucca, Nevada, where they enjoyed the nice people and made it their home for over twenty years.

Barbara was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on August 9, 2017 and finished her chemo and radiation in Reno on January 2, 2018, where she was informed, they couldn’t do anymore for her.

She was a trooper and still worried about what everyone else would eat, even though she couldn’t eat anything but liquids. She loved to share recipes and discuss the food she couldn’t eat.

I was instructed to let everyone know that she is starting a new life with our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Barbara lived by her favorite bible scripture; Proverbs 3:5-6; “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.”

We would like to thank the Humboldt General Hospital with the great care she received from Echo Matthews and Kathryn Ortega.

Kat went out of her way to provide good healthcare as well as help! As well as Todd and Jolynda, her brother Keith and his family. Thank you all, Winnemucca has been good to us.
