Lowry High School is calling upon other Nevada High Schools to participate in the “Be the Light and Never Ever Give up on Your Dreams” campaign.
The school will turn the LHS Football field lights on for 20 minutes on April 17, at 8:20 p.m. in support of the 2020 senior class, spring sport athletes, coaches, staff, families, and all those on the frontlines fighting this invisible enemy.
The community is invited to drive by and honk in support.
Please stay in your vehicles to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Other schools from around the state will be joining in to do the same thing and some have already been doing it.
Reed High School in Sparks has been turning on its baseball lights for the past couple of weeks.
“I thought we could do something to remind people we’re still here and the kids haven’t gone anywhere and there’s kids who should be playing right now and aren’t,” said Reed baseball coach Levi Matherly to the Reno Gazette Journal.
Churchill County High School in Fallon has been turning on its football lights as well for the past couple weeks.
Other schools in northern Nevada plan to turn on their lights as well including Pershing County in Lovelock, Wells, Elko and Sparks.
