The Battle Mountain High School girls soccer team made its way to eastern Nevada last weekend to begin a five-match road trip.
Battle Mountain was in Ely on Friday afternoon and suffered a 7-0 loss. The Ladycats scored all seven of its goals in the first half, including a stretch of three goals in six minutes.
White Pine scored twice in the opening 10 minutes in the cool and windy conditions.
"The team is playing tough defense, but we just can't relieve the defensive pressure with counter attacks that lead to the ball in the back of the opponent's net," said BMHS coach David Marz.

Battle Mountain traveled to West Wendover on Saturday and lost 1-0. The defeat drooped the Longhorns to 0-5-1 in the Northern 3A 'B' division.
"We have the defense but just have not found our offense," said the coach. "We will continue to work on finding ways to score."
Battle Mountain travels to Fernley on Friday for a 5 p.m. match and will be in Yerington on Saturday for a 1 p.m. start. The road trip concludes on Thursday, Oct. 3, in Lovelock at 6:30 p.m.
