Hayes leads the way for Lowry golfers in Truckee

Mother Nature was in full force on Monday in South Tahoe, as the Northern 3A girls golf season attempted to get back on the course after a 12-day break.

However, Mother Nature won the battle and postponed the tournament. The weather cleared on Tuesday in Truckee and the girls were able to get back on the course.

Lowry did not feature a full team but was led by Bailey Hayes, who carded a round of 96, which tied her for fourth with two other golfers. Katelyn Hales shot 102 for the Lady Bucks and Angelina Martinez finished with a 103.

Truckee won on its home course with a team total of 385, as the Wolverines’ Ryan Flynn was the low medalist at 80. Elko was second at 401, as the Indians’ Gabby Bement and Caresse Basabara each shot 92 to tie for second place.

Spring Creek was third in the team standings at 411 and Churchill County (Fallon) and South Tahoe rounded out the top five with scores of 440 and 463, respectively. North Valleys (523) and Fernley (550) rounded out the team scores.

After taking next week off, the Northern 3A returns to the course on Monday, Sept. 30, at Dayton Valley Country Club in Dayton and Tuesday, Oct. 1, in Fernley.

Lowry hosts its tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
