The Winnemucca Junior High School eighth-grade girls basketball team made its home debut on Thursday afternoon and beat Pyramid Lake 44-30.
The Warriors jumped out to a 11-5 lead after a quarter of play, only to see Pyramid Lake hang tough in the second quarter and the remainder of the contest.
Pyramid Lake out-scored Winnemucca 10-9 in the second quarter and trailed 20-15 at halftime.
Winnemucca broke open a close game with an 11-5 run in the final six minutes of the contest to earn the 14-point victory.
Savannah Stoker led all scorers with 25 points, while Bryce Brinkerhoff added eight points. Jacqueline Sanchez netted six points, Alexis Galarza four and Piper Nichols two.
Winnemucca travels to Lovelock on Saturday for a 9 a.m. start.
