The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team hosted its annual tournament this past weekend that featured 1A and 2A varsity schools and the Spring Creek JV. Junior varsity and freshmen teams played at the junior high. The Lady Longhorns' varsity squad finished second in pool play but was knocked out in the first round of bracket play on Saturday afternoon. Battle Mountain begins Northern 2A action with four straight road matches at Incline, North Tahoe, West Wendover and White Pine. The Lady Longhorns are back home to play Coral Academy (Sept. 20) and Yerington (Sept. 21).
