Battle Mountain boys soccer start season at White Pine

The Battle Mountain High School boys soccer team started its season last weekend with a preseason tournament at White Pine High School in Ely.

The Longhorns suffered three losses over the two days. 

Battle Mountain played White Pine on Friday and lost 6-0. The Bobcats scored twice in the first half and tacked on four more goals in the second half.

On Saturday, Battle Mountain suffered a 5-1 loss to West Wendover. After leading 2-0 at halftime, the Wolverines scored three times in the second half. 

Battle Mountain's lone goal of the match came in the second half.

In another game on Saturday, Battle Mountain lost 3-0 to Moapa Valley. The Pirates are a 3A school in southern Nevada.  

Battle Mountain begins league play this weekend and hosts Dayton on Friday at 11 a.m. and Whittell on Saturday at noon.

The Longhorns are back home to play Fernley (Sept. 13) and Yerington (Sept. 14).
