After starting practice in early August, the football playoffs for 3A schools in Nevada begins this weekend.
In the Northern 3A, Lowry High School finished fourth in the Northern 3A at 5-3 and will host No. 5 seed Spring Creek on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Buckaroos beat the Spartans 21-20 in Winnemucca in the regular season.
As a reminder, the playoff game is an NIAA event and Century Club cards will not be honored. NIAA Courtesy Cards and NIAA Lifetime passes will be honored for the cardholder and one guest.
Admission is $10 for adults, students $5, seniors (62 and older) $3 and children 8 and younger are free.
The winner of the game will travel to Fallon on Friday, Nov. 8, to take on Churchill County, the regular season champion and defending 3A state champion.
In the other first-round match-up in northern Nevada, No .3 Truckee will host No. 6 Elko on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. Truckee beat Elko 23-12 in the regular season.
The winner of that game plays at Fernley on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m.
In the Southern 3A, Boulder City will host Del Sol on Friday, with the winner traveling to Cheyenne on Friday, Nov. 8.
In the other first-round game, Pahrump Valley hosts Moapa Valley on Friday at 7 p.m.
That winner makes its way to Mesquite on Nov. 8 to place Virgin Valley, the Sunrise Division champion.
The NIAA State Semifinals will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16. The top Northern 3A seed will host the lower Southern 3A seed and the Southern No. 1 seed will host the lower the Northern 3A seed.
The state championship game is set for Saturday, Nov. 23, in northern Nevada.
2A playoffs nearly set
The schools in the 2A Division still have one week left to play, but a majority of the postseason berths have been set.
Yerington has clinched the No. 1 seed in the Northern 2A and will play either White Pine, Coral Academy or Incline in the opening round on Friday Nov. 8.
Battle Mountain earned the No. 2 seed with a 42-6 win over Pershing County.
The Longhorns will host those same Mustangs in the playoffs on Nov. 8.
Battle Mountain closes out the regular season at Incline and Pershing County hosts North Tahoe this weekend.
The top four seeds in the Southern 2A have already been determined.
Linclon County will be the top seed, followed by Needles, Calif. Calvary Chapel and Lake Mead are the third and fourth seed, respectively.
The 2A State Semifinals will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, with the state title set for Saturday, Nov. 23, in northern Nevada.
