Lady Bucks split matches with Wolverines, Panthers

The Lowry High School volleyball team picked up a split of two matches this past weekend on the road.

The Lady Bucks were in Truckee on Friday, Oct. 18, to play the league-leading Wolverines. Truckee knocked off Lowry in three sets 25-12, 25-14 and 25-8.

Lowry was in Reno on Saturday, Oct. 19, and completed the season sweep of North Valleys. The match with the Panthers went the full five sets, with the Lady Bucks pulling away for a 15-9 win in the fifth set.

North Valleys claimed the first set 25-18, as first-year head Skylar Estes noted the squad got off to a slow start. Lowry rebounded to win the second set 25-19, only to see North Valleys win the third set 25-18.

The third set went back-and-forth, with the Panthers having match point at one point. The Lady Buckaroos rallied to win the fourth set 29-27 and ran with that momentum in the fifth set.

Lowry traveled to Elko County on Thursday and Friday to play Spring Creek and Elko, respectively. Results of the matches were not available at press time.

The Lady Bucks close out the season Wednesday in Fallon against Churchill County at 6 p.m.
