Lady Longhorns drop league road matches to Mustangs, Nighthawks

Like its soccer counterpart, the Battle Mountain High School volleyball team has been on the road for the past couple of weeks.

The Lady Longhorns finished a four-match road trip this past weekend.

Battle Mountain traveled to Lovelock on Thursday to take on rival Pershing County. The Lady Longhorns looked poised to put a damper on the Mustangs’ homecoming, winning the first set 25-22.

However, Pershing County bounced back to tie the match, winning the second set 25-16.

The Mustangs continued with the momentum and won the final two sets 25-13 and 25-14.

Battle Mountain made its way to Silver Springs on Friday and suffered a 25-12, 26-24 and 25-22 loss to Silver Stage.

Battle Mountain plays its final six Northern 2A matches at home, beginning Friday at 5 p.m. against West Wendover.

The Lady Longhorns are celebrating homecoming this week. White Pine stops in Battle Mountain on Saturday for a noon match.
