Lowry High School’s Bailee Brinkerhoff and Ariana Galindo were named to the honorable mention squad as part of the Northern 3A girls soccer all-league team.
The all-league teams are selected by the league’s coaches.
Brinkerhoff and Galindo each had one goal this season for the Lady Bucks. Brinkerhoff, a junior, primarily played as a defender and midfielder and Galindo, a senior, was a midfielder and forward.
South Tahoe’s Kelsey Hogan was named the Most Valuable Player and South Tahoe’s Mark Salmon was chosen as the Coach of the Year.
The all-league, first team included South Tahoe’s Giovana De Loia (forward), Hogan (forward), Marley Befu (midfield) and Jenna Pevenage.
Joining them were North Tahoe’s Maile Markham (forward) and Maddie Roberts (defender); Spring Creek’s Kattalin Lopategui (midfield); Incline’s Sami Giangreco (midfield); Truckee’s Carly Davis (midfield), Britta Winans (defender) and Emily Monson (utility) and Elko’s Olivia Smales (defender) and Elayna Orr (goalkeeper).
The second team was comprised of Truckee’s Taya Matt, Sami Orozco, Olivia Sproehnle and Carter Rust; Churchill County’s Sydney Guswelle; Incline’s Jada Moore and Anna Erickson; South Tahoe’s Morrison Salmon; North Tahoe’s Della Quinn and Paige McGarry and Spring Creek’s Lydia Binger, Betsy Fellows and Shyann Lamb.
The all-state first team included Yerington’s Nayeli Zarazua, Hogan De Loia, Markham, Lopategui, Befu, Davis and Monson. The second team was made up of Whittell’s Ava Campbell, White Pine’s Sage Dutson, Giangreco, Smales, Pevenage, Winans and Roberts.
Joining Brinkerhoff and Galindo on the honorable mention team were South Tahoe’s Citalli Herrera, Sarah Hardin and Anjelina Maltese; Incline’s Liz Stranzi, Elko’s Avery Beatty and Dariahn Primeaux; Churchill County's Jilly Howard; North Valleys’ Laura Jannet-Ramirez and Erica Chavez; Sparks’ Patty Estrada and Truckee’s Alondra Villa-Avilla.
South Tahoe was the regular season champion in the Northern 3A 'A' division at 15-0-3, while Truckee was second.
However, Truckee beat South Tahoe 2-0 in the Northern 3A Regional Championship and 2-0 in the NIAA State Championships game this past Saturday at Wooster High School in Reno.
