Naveah Serna and Zayne Hall competed at the Nevada State Swimming Short Course Championships in Henderson during the weekend of Nov. 7-9.
In the 100-yard individual medley, Serna improved her time by 1.28 seconds to finish ninth in a time of 1 minute, 44.13 seconds.
In the 25-yard freestyle, she improved her time by 1.51 seconds and placed sixth with a time of 16.95. There was only a difference of 1.75 seconds between first and sixth place.
Serna had a fantastic weekend with four medals and three ribbons and was in the top 10 in six out of seven events. She was seventh in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 41.32, fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:27.05), 15th in the 25-yard breaststroke at 28.97, sixth in the 50-yard backstroke (45.56) and fifth in the 35-yard backstroke at 20.42.
Hall placed 14th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.20, which was a 1.68 second improvement. He was 27th in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:09.70, a .55 improvement and 24th in the 50-yard freestyle at 27.24, a .40 improvement.
